I did it! - I Graduated from High School!

Now I can focus on my cycling!

Final Exams/Graduation First?

I am kind of down because I couldn't go to the UCI stage race in Axel this weekend because one of my end exams was on Friday, and I couldn't make it to the race on time.  I just found out that the Try Outs for the European Champsionships Velodrome are on the same day as my high school graduation.  I am having some bad luck with scheduling this season. My mom is American and insists that school comes first. Doesn't she realize yet that we are living in Europe?

Saturday

Moving to America

My family might be moving back to the United States of America.  I wonder what consequences this will have on my cycling career.  I have been trying to figure out how to make contact with the cycling authorities in America to determine what I need to do to continue cycling on my current level but so far it has been a puzzle. It looks like I am going to have to start all over and prove myself all over again.  I am afraid that I am going to miss a whole year of international competition and I am not okay with that. If anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate it.  Thanks, Chris

South Holland Time Trial Competition

Things are hectic right now. I am in the middle of my final exams. I wasn't going to compete this week but my trainer thought it was good for me to get some exercise.  He advised me to ride for the fun of it and to take it easy. I wasn't properly prepared and I was so relaxed. I surprised myself by coming in 5th in the South Holland Time Trial Competition. It looks like I may have already qualified for a place at the Netherlands National Championship for Time Trials. Maybe this is the answer instead of stressing before a race. Back to studying...  ~Chris

May 2011 - Regional Championships Time Trial

I was disappointed with myself that I was 7th at the time trials last week.  I started out strong but took the first corner too hard so then decided to play it safe.  I am frustrated that lately I have been standing right next to the podium.  My trainer is satisfied because he says that I am strong in every category and I am good racer overall but I wish that I had something that was my specialty.  Maybe I should work on my sprint.  That brought me in 4th in the National Championships.  Just one more spot for the podium.  I know… it is not about winning, but sometimes it is nice to place.  That’s my thoughts for today. ~Chris

Friday

Made it to the Podium Despite Everything

I didn't get much sleep last night because I was in a bit of pain and when I did fall asleep my mom was waking me every hour like the hospital instructed because of the concussion.  She exchanged words with my trainer because she didn't think I should race today but I am glad he let me!  I came in 3rd in Germany! With one eye swollen shut!  It was kind of cool.  I was so pumped up!  I won 70 euros today.  Mabye I should go buy my mom some flowers.

Peleton Crash Today

We were only 20 km into the race when an Austrailian dude in front of me hit a car head on.  He smacked into the windshield and went over the top of the car.  His bike slid out and took a bunch of us down with him.  I broke off the mirror of the same car with my face and landed on the ground as well.  The EHBO came running to me because I had blood all over my face but I told them that I was okay. The Austrailian guy needed more help because the kid was unconscious.  They say that he broke his pelvis but he will be okay. Of course my mom flipped out.  They stitched up my head at the ER and said I can't race tomorrow because I have a concussion but it is too early in the season to miss any races.  The only problem is that my eye is still swollen shut.  My trainer said that if I sleep with ice on my face and go to bed early I might be okay to race tomorrow.

Road Season 2011 has begun!

We are all excited that Road Season 2011 has begun! My little brothers and sisters are racing in the Netherlands.  Right now I am riding international races in Belguim and Germany.

The beginning

Me and My Papa
It all started 3 years ago with my dad. (In Holland we say Papa.) I was a soccer player and he was a cyclist. He tried to get me interested in cycing for years and when I was only 14 years old we entered the Shimano Challenge together. It was a grueling ride. I was the youngest kid there and I just glided up the mountain past grown men and experienced riders. People kept telling my Dad that I had talent so I joined the local racing club. But then people said that I was too old to start at a new sport. For the first couple years I always came in last but but with a lot of hard work 3 years later I am now placing in the top 10.

starting my own blog

Hi, My name is Christopher Tveter. I am an American/Dutch guy of 17 years old. I live in Oegstgeest, The Netherlands and I am a cyclist. I have been told that I need to start my own blog to keep track of my racing history. My 4 little brothers and sisters also race. It's a family thing.
